Man Behind Mixster

A 3rd person, opinionated, account of a 25-something golden retriever who writes for a living (code & docs), believes in keeping life Vanilla and travels for one month, one country at a time.

Vipul started Mixster as a storage unit for ideas filtered out of fresh thoughts, good vibes, and grand experiences he had whilst his time on Earth. His own little corner on the web to document his life. He goes by the name, vipulgupta2048 and hence it features in the tag line. The quote “Life is Vanilla” is his motto.

These experiences, especially those he wrote about, might not be too ornamental in the world of AI slop or new Gen Z trends. But, they were an invaluable, inseparable part of who he was and becoming. A kid trying to belong, hustling his way through, always ready to help his fellow human along the way. A lot has gone by since this blog started.

Resembling strongly from the name of this blog, he’s a man of many niches. One of the early niches, he mastered was writing. He learned the language and knew how to wield it like a tool from a very young age. He took care of the words, as sentences would come naturally to him. He used the tool to his benefit more times than he could ever imagine. All credit goes to his high school teachers who recognized this niche early on and cast him to be the Giant in a David and Goliath play. The good old days as he remembers.

Vipul has had considerable stage & acting experience growing up. His mother is a talented stage artist, orator, and social worker.”

A secret exclusive to Mixster readers.

For writing, be it blog posts, stories, or even documentation. The right rhythm is necessary. The words flow out like a gushing river only and only when they strike a chord with your heart. Writing is an art that could be violent like a hurricane or calming like an unexpected drizzle on a warm day. Writing struck every chord of “Time in A Bottle” by Jim Croce for the man behind Mixster.

So who is Vipul behind Mixster?

The meaning of Vipul is abundance. Abundance of what?

Abundance of joy, energy, and fulfillment. Vipul is sarcastic, observant, and dickishly mysterious in real life. The author till now perseveres to be a modern gentleman, remaining in control of his emotions, his growth and his beard. He is traveling man. He’s a social creature. But after Covid, that social battery did begin to falter. Reduced considerably for the better. He now selectively applies himself to tasks. His choice in fashion has improved significantly bordering on experimentation more than funationality. The simplicity, priorities and whatever is comfortable at that moment are his guiding principles. The same backpack has gone with him on trips when he left home for Boston. The same shoes still run just fine that he ran while playing defender in school football. Everything about him and what he owns is a story that connects a dot in his past.

vipulgupta2048 @ Work

For work, he’s a software engineer & product owner. He codes. He contributes, but, most importantly, he like to be someone who eliminates problems. He is crazy about first principles, ownership, and tyranny of metrics. The true joy for him is giving back to the community to which he owes almost everything he knows. And, executing tasks/projects to their destined conclusion.

He is a documentarian at heart and have been documenting his life, try to speak more about work, and organize even more conferences & meetups. He believes in ethical open-source contributions, radical candor (friends don’t let friends be wrong), and reviewing cheesecakes everywhere.

vipulgupta.travel @ Travel

His independence is fueled by the ardent desire to backpack solo.

Traveled solo for the first time 2018 to Boston, USA for HackMIT. Apart from the 38 hours he spent for layovers at Terminal C of the Frankfurt International Airport, the trip itself was a major turning point in his life. Both for his personal and professional ambitions. Since then, he has traveled around this blue revolving sphere to his heart’s content. In 2023, only being home for 5 months out of 12.

One of his many all-time desires includes traveling to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty has his admiration. Truly underrated film. Althrough the years of travel, has taken a toll on him and lead to major travel burnout in 2024. He’s beginning to slow travel again, doing entire countries one month at a time. As he ambitiously aims to complete his list of Seven Wonders of the World before he turns 30.

What tickles his brain.

Films, Music and the Arts hold a very special place in his heart. He can talk about films at length. The direction, cinematography, score, screenplay and casting for a film all he widely notices and takes in with the plot. A special thing he really likes doing is re-seeing award acceptance speeches for movies or shows he likes. It’s hard to make a good movie. It’s even harder to make a great movie.

He’s into all kinds of music which is what a lot of people are into these days. Blaming Spotify to be giving us too many choices, yet locking us into our own interests and not letting us be too random. He lives live rock, jazz and orchestra performances. The first concert he ever attended was Coldplay Mumbai in 2025.

A fan of Formula 1 racing since 2019. He’s deadly passionate about seeing the best engineers, aerodynamic designers, strategists and materials experts coming together to be part of a team building the best car that particular year driven by the best drivers in the sport and let them go all out racing in circles. It’s the pinnacle of motorsports. Everything about is beyond intricate, beyond complex and beyond drama.

Reading courtroom drama like John Grisham, thriller-like Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, management and UI design books like Swipe to Unlock takes up his remaining free time. Drawing up plans and deadlines on his beloved whiteboard is evident to his busy life.

He weekly harvests Calvin and Hobbes comics by Bill Watterson for his collection which might have well exceeded over a thousand snippets from over 4-5 years of rigorous on and off collecting.

    1. Thank you, Stuti this really means a lot. I really appreciate the gesture. I am trying to branch out my content more on the abstract parts of life. As I feel the inspiration seeping through Dinersrain. I particularly loved the lines in one of the beautiful posts you wrote.

      Things, situations, lives change.
      All things come and go.
Some remain silent, some speak up,
some fight and support, some let it go.

      Thank you for reading !!
